TGK - Technology, Glass and Art
TGK, based in Skalice near Nový Bor, is one of the leading Czech specialists in custom flat glass processing, focusing on lighting architecture and design installations. Under the slogan "TGK – the whole world made of glass," the company implements technologically demanding projects, including the unique glass cladding of the Lasvit headquarters and the precise reconstruction of the glass floors in the National Museum in Prague.
Since its founding in 1996, TGK has evolved from a trading company into a respected technology center that collaborates with the world's leading manufacturers of lighting and other products. An important pillar of the company's philosophy is the sharing of professional know-how, as evidenced by its long tradition of organizing educational seminars for the public and its close cooperation with artists within the framework of the International Glass Symposium (IGS), whose resulting works form part of the company's collection.
Visitors to the premises are offered a fascinating insight into progressive glass processing techniques, from fusing and Tiffany techniques to precision bonding using UV technologies and the production of beads over a burner. The real attraction is the freely accessible glass garden with installations that have passed through local furnaces and a rich showroom presenting the endless possibilities of this material. Those interested can not only view the glass, but also try their hand at working in the workshop as part of workshops, with TGK experts ready to provide all the materials and expert guidance for their own creations.
