Crystal Valley opens its doors on the weekend of October 18-19, 2025. Two days of open houses at glassworks, studios, production facilities, museums, and schools.

In the 2025/2026 school year, the Železný Brod Glass School will celebrate its 105th anniversary.
As part of Crystal Valley, during the school's Open Day on October 18, you will have the opportunity to see not only an exhibition of student work with a glass shop, but also to try out some of the skills of our students and teachers.
Throughout Saturday, creative workshops will be open in all six glassmaking specializations of the Glass and Lighting Design program, including Product Design.
At the school's Hedvice furnace, we offer visitors the opportunity to try glassblowing on a pipe.
And for those interested in glass technology and chemistry, the Liberec Region domain, the Nanospider machine, is available for the production of nano textiles from polymers, including demonstrations in laboratories.
As part of the day's program, a glass bust of the school's first director, Alois Metelák, will be unveiled in the school lobby.

Come and see the Herbarium Radiant glass installation at Kafe Kytka in the heart of Liberec.
The Herbarium installation, gilded glass combined with plants, adorns the UN headquarters in New York. Lasvit donated it there together with the Czech Republic. You can admire Herbarium Radiant in Liberec until the end of October, brought to the ground floor of the café by the Crystal Valley Week 2025 summer glass festival.
Herbarium Radiant was designed by Marie Čulenová, Lasvit's chief designer, in collaboration with Jan Formánek, head of the lighting department. This project introduces a new type of glass made by integrating recycled materials such as rare lanthanide oxides extracted from recycled electromagnets. These oxides allow for the modulation of light colors. The result is an ever-evolving color spectacle that transforms Herbarium Radiant into a unique visual experience that combines aesthetics with sustainability.

We are the CHŘIBSKÁ SKLÁRNA FRIENDS ASSOCIATION – a community of glassmakers, masters and apprentices, friends, supporters and enthusiasts of glassmaking of all ages. We are bringing the glassmaking tradition back to Chřibská, a picturesque town at the foot of the Lužické Mountains with a rich glassmaking history dating back almost 600 years. Guided tour of the church and chandelier, video projection of the repair and installation of the chandelier in the church.
The Church of St. James the Greater has been leased to the St. James the Greater Association for a period of 40 years. In the spring of 2025, representatives of the municipality transferred part of the original 200-year-old chandelier from the local parish to the association. The Preciosa Foundation financed its restoration and Preciosa Lighting carried out the repair itself. The chandelier is 160 cm high, 80 cm in diameter, and weighs approximately 65 kg. Sixty percent of the pendants and 40% of the glass parts have been preserved. The chandelier has its original wooden center, into which eight glass arms are set—four original and four newly made at the glassworks according to the original. The light fixture has been newly electrified. On Saturday, September 27, 2025, the chandelier was ceremoniously lit as part of the Libchavy Music Autumn festival.

Although we are still in the process of a long-term, demanding, and costly renovation of the entire building, the historic building of Karel Maletzer's stained glass factory is certainly one of the most interesting buildings in the Nový Bor region.
The dominant feature of the entire building is the five-sided ceramic tower, which served as a "showroom" for presenting finished stained glass windows for churches and cathedrals.
The biggest attraction is the already renovated original stained glass windows on the upper floor of the stained glass workshop tower.

On Saturday, October 18, from 6 AM to 6 PM, visit the legendary Hantich Flora glassworks, which was built in 1912 and has unfortunately been abandoned and closed since 2023 after production ceased, but fortunately remains uniquely preserved.
Local enthusiasts and lovers of glass and history will reopen it on October 18 so that former employees, eyewitnesses, and the public can meet there again and see it as if the glassmakers had literally just finished their work a moment ago.
You will see the breathtaking spaces of the large glassworks, where the fire will be rekindled, at least in small mobile furnaces, you will see important glassmakers, cutters, and molders at work, listen to discussions between eyewitnesses and historians, and simply experience Sobota u Hanticha!
