Jitka Skuhrava Glass
Jitka Kamencová Skuhravá is a renowned Czech glass artist and designer who specializes in original studio glass creations and monumental light sculptures for modern architecture. In her studio in Nový Bor, which she runs together with her husband Tomáš Kamenc, she transforms traditional craftsmanship into unique artistic installations that define space with their sculptural aesthetics and innovative approach to materials.
The artist's professional career is based on more than twenty-five years of experience and a deep education gained at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague, where her sense of linear decoration and engraving was formed. Her philosophy is based on a perfect understanding of the natural properties of glass – from precise drawings in massive cut blocks to organic forms created by the free flow of hot glass. A significant milestone in her career was her iconic project for the Dubai Metro, where she demonstrated her ability to eliminate technical structures in favor of a pure visual experience and harmony with the environment through geysers of glass and light.
A visit to the gallery at the Nový Bor facility offers an exclusive glimpse into the world of cutting-edge glass art through a permanent exhibition of the artist's work. On display are unique solitary pieces, masterfully engraved and cut sculptures, and examples of lighting fixtures that bear the imprint of natural inspiration and precise craftsmanship. Guests have a unique opportunity to experience the symbiosis between fragile material and light, which is entirely characteristic of Jitka Kamencová Skuhravá's style.
