Muzeum Českého ráje - Christmas gift idea
The Museum of Bohemian Paradise in Turnov presents, as part of the Crystal Valley exhibition, an original graphic print entitled "Turnov - Bohemian Paradise" by Pavel Hlavatý (*1943), an internationally successful graphic artist and native of Turnov. The author created it exclusively for Turnov in the spirit of similar panoramas he has produced for other Czech and European cities, on the occasion of an exhibition at the local museum in 2023.
Pavel Hlavatý is one of the leading Czech graphic artists, who is highly regarded in the field of graphic design even abroad (he has collected more than 60 international awards for his graphic work) and, even at his blessed age, he likes to return to his native Bohemian Paradise. The elongated graphic work, measuring 50 x 14 cm, is made using the drypoint technique combined with etching and takes the form of a composition created from the main architectural and art-historical monuments of the town (town churches, town hall, savings bank, Marian column) and surrounding natural and artistic attractions (Kozákov, Trosky, Hruboskalské skalní město, etc.). Objects and places associated with the local tradition of goldsmithing and gem cutting also occupy an important place in the composition, including a jewelry school and examples of Art Nouveau jewelry with Czech garnets.
The author published 100 copies of the sheet (each print is numbered, signed, and accompanied by a list of motifs used), personally supervising the printing process, and also in several different color-toned variants.
Panorama Turnova is now on sale at a very attractive reduced price of CZK 600 (50% discount!) and could make a very nice Christmas gift.
The print can be purchased either directly at the Turnov Museum shop (where it is also available in a framed version) or ordered by email at laurynova@muzeum-turnov.cz.
