Rudolf Schwedler - glass from the New World to the whole world
Rudolf Schwedler was a corporate designer of the glassworks in Harrachov for more than 40 years. In 1917 he was promoted to an independent draughtsman and subsequently became an independent designer. He headed the design department until 1955, when another famous designer Milan Metelák took over. Even as a retired designer, Rudolf Schwedler continued to work at the glassworks for another three years. Schwedler\'s work is still recognised today. One of his most famous timeless pieces is a drink service from 1947. It was designed for Foreign Minister Jan Masaryk. The name Masaryka, which is still known today, was adopted for his glasses. The Harrachov glassworks still produces this design in its original form and in many other variations by Milan Metelák. Most recently, for example, as a commission for Prague Castle.
