Glassmaking meeting with Wanda Solík Valihrachová
Program
As part of the Glassmaking Meetings series, we would like to invite you to a unique evening with artist and designer Wanda Solík Valihrachová, which will combine glassmaking with our national passion, BEER.
The evening will be themed "When glass and beer come together" and will offer a unique opportunity to see how original beer glasses are made right at the glassworks. During the meeting, you will be able to purchase a limited number of unique beer glasses created especially for this Glassmaking Meeting through a collaboration between Novotný Glass and Wanda Solík Valihrachová. The event is supported by the Born Brewery in Nový Bor, a local craft brewery that prides itself on honest production, quality ingredients, and its own recipes.
By purchasing a unique beer glass, you will have the opportunity to pour yourself a free glass of Born beer at the glassworks!
About the artist:
Wanda comes from Zlín, the iconic city of Baťa, of which she is still proud today. Although she now lives in northern Bohemia, in the heart of the glassmaking region, she still considers herself a "girl" from Moravia. She studied industrial design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava and then Product & Graphic Design at the École supérieure d'art et design in Saint-Étienne, France.
After her studies, she worked for the Czech glass company Lasvit, where she participated in the creation of glass sculptures and light installations around the world, from Hong Kong to Dubai, London, Paris, and New York.
She is the founder of the Gustus Vitri brand and specializes in gastro design and the creation of objects for fine dining, where every detail plays an important role in the overall perception of food. In her work, she combines a feel for materials, craftsmanship, and atmosphere, because, according to her, it is the experience that transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary.
