Ilja Bílek: GLASS SCULPTURE
Program
We warmly invite you to an exhibition showcasing the work of the renowned Czech glass artist Ilja Bílek (*1948), a graduate of the Secondary School of Applied Arts for Glassmaking in Železný Brod and a student of Professor Stanislav Libenský at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague.
During his distinguished career, he worked as a designer for the Železnobrodské sklo company, pursued independent artistic practice, and also passed on his experience as a teacher. From 1996 to 2017, he headed the glass studio at the Faculty of Art and Design, J. E. Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem.
Ilja Bílek’s work is characterised by his sensitive handling of glass segments, both fused and sheet glass. His sculptures emerge as carefully considered compositions that combine formal restraint, structural logic and inspiration drawn from architecture and natural structures. The resulting works captivate with their purity, harmonious composition and unique artistic expression.
Come and discover the fascinating world of glass through the works of one of the leading Czech glass artists.
