Exhibition: Pavel Werner
Program
Come and discover the world of Pavel Werner – a world in which glass is transformed into an energetic, colourful and vibrant sculpture.
Pavel Werner (*1942) is one of the leading figures in Czech glass art. A glass artist, designer, teacher and long-standing director of the glass school in Kamenický Šenov, he has devoted his entire life to glass and its endless possibilities.
He studied in Železný Brod and later at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague under Professor Stanislav Libenský. Since the 1960s, he has devoted himself to original glass art, particularly the technique of fused and cast glass sculpture, which he has been experimenting with and developing throughout his life. His work is characterised by expressive forms, the contrast between smooth and rough surfaces, and a fascinating combination of coloured and clear glass. In his works, a precisely thought-out design meets chance and the elemental force of molten glass.
