Exhibition - YGS 2024 - Children's Glass Symposium
Since 1982, famous artists from all over the world have been meeting in Nový Bor and its surroundings every three years to collaborate with the best Czech glassmakers in glassworks, cutting, painting, engraving workshops and other studios to create original works of art...
But every person, and therefore also an artist or an artist, was at the beginning of his career and creation a child who, with the help of crayons, coloured chalks or water colours, transformed the usual, often grey and dull world into his own, colourfully shining and unique world.
In June 2024, representatives of primary art schools from fourteen regions of the Czech Republic and four children from the German Weißwasser region - talented children - met again in the Crystal Valley, symbolically at the oldest glass school in the world in Kamenický Šenov and Jiří Pačink\'s art glass factory in Kunratice near Cvikov, who passed the selection round and who were given a unique opportunity to become an ARTIST for four days, for whom glassmakers work at the hot furnace, who can influence the shape of his cut sculpture, sandblasted decoration, or compose a glass mosaic himself...
The symposium itself was preceded by a number of activities. The most important ones were the meeting of teachers of primary schools at professional workshops organised by the glass school in Kamenický Šenov and the art competition for pupils of primary schools in all regions of the Czech Republic. The glass school and the Pačinek glassworks communicated with the participants and provided expert consultations during the competition. A committee of ten artists then selected one participant from each region in February 2024, who became part of the team of glass experts and realised their competition design in material.
The ambassador and artistic guarantor of the symposium with the theme "Planet Glass" is Liběna Rochová, a prominent international designer, and the symposium is under the auspices of Eva Pavlová, wife of the President of the Czech Republic, Martin Půta, Governor of the Liberec Region, and Květa Vinklátová, Councillor for Culture and Tourism.
