Precious stones from the Bohemian Paradise

The brothers Jan and Václav Fišers from Turnov. Their alleged voyage to Venice, five years of efforts to seize the local secret of secrecy, return to Turnov, dozens of wasted attempts and then - finally success! In 1711 they made the first glass for the production of artificial stones.

THE GLASSHOUSE IN NOVÝ SVĚT

It was in 1712, when Elias Müller built his glassworks on the estate of the Harrach Counts in Jilemnice. It continued in the traditional production of glass, which was produced on the border of the Giant Mountains and the Jizera Mountains in the middle of the 14th century. Even today, you can see not only metallurgical production and blowing glass, but also a hundred-year-old grinding shop. It is driven by a water turbine and transmissions used to distribute the driving force.

Elias Palme, one of the most famous luminaire manufacturers, continued the tradition of chandeliers in Kamenický Šenov. Industrial production of chandeliers was started in 1724 by Josef Palme in Prácheň.

BLOWN BEAD and its way to the tree

People can make sense of time and numbers, but not us, beads. However, I have heard that they have been blowing me in the mountains for more than a hundred years. As a bead would put it, that is a long time. You, who have never seen how a bead is born, you don´t know how beautiful life can be....

The glasshouse Florianova hut was founded in 1996. After two years of construction and preparations, the production of hand-blown glass started. We specialized mainly on the quality of melted glass and restoration of old production techniques. The glasshouse employs an average of 5 people. We prefer the skills and dexterity of individual professions.  The production didn´t stop, not even at the time of stagnation of the world economy. It was mainly due to our creativity and a wide assortment of goods. Our glass workshop – glasshouse produces glass for designers from the Czech Republic and the world.
We also produce historic glass, sandblasted glass, engraved glass, painted glass, cut glass, studio glass, art style, chandelier components, souvenirs, custom glass and replicas of specific historical periods. We also provide customer services regarding supplied material, such as glass cutting, drilling, glass decals, tin castings.
You could see our products, as well as our glasshouse in several TV programmes, such as “Co naše babičky uměly…., Tezka drina, Zivnosti remesla, Tipy a inspirace.” Our glass decorates the tables of Swedish royal family, Karel Gott, Ilja Racka etc. We also produced some movie props.
In 2000, we became interested in tin production, moulding and girdler-craft. We produced a combination of glass and tin. These kinds of products were produced at the turn of the 17th and 18th century.  The period of Art Nouveau, Jugendstil also used decoration made from glass and tin. Over the years, we have perfected the castings into special moulds to be able to produce very complex replicas of original models. We renewed the production of tin caps for glass pints.
Our glasshouse focuses on handmade glass, hand-shaped glass, hand blowing into glass pipes, castings into moulds and free glass-forming by hand according to glassmaker´s vision.
During the year, we visit events with our mobile kiln to show our skills. Brave visitors can try for themselves and blow a small souvenir.

In our glasshouse, visitors can see the whole production and technological processes, as well as the unique production of tin casings which we then combine with our glass. Three years ago, we opened a new shop in Prague for those who want gifts or just some beautiful glass objects. We wanted to bring the production closer to the general public. Our glasshouse is located in a beautiful small valley in Castalovice near Ceska Lipa. Visitors can get inspired in our garden full of glass decoration that they can also buy.
